Research notes
- One of the genre's originals: VS Revo Group Ltd. was founded in 2007 by two programmers specifically to solve incomplete uninstalls; the free edition's version history runs unbroken from v1.30 (Jul 2007) to 2.7.0 (May 2026).
- Hunter Mode is the signature UI: a floating crosshair you drop on any window, tray icon, or shortcut to uninstall, stop autostart, kill the process, or jump to the install folder - present since 2007.
- Leftover scanning is deliberately tiered (Safe/Moderate/Advanced), and the leftover view distinguishes bold registry items 'created by the uninstalled program' from merely adjacent keys - deletion safety thinking from before it was fashionable.
- Two trains: Freeware 2.x (free, lighter feature set) and Pro 5.x (paid) are maintained on separate version tracks; the Pro line dates to late 2009.
- Microsoft Store presence is recent relative to the 2007 desktop history; the classic win32 installer remains the primary channel from revouninstaller.com.
